In Short:
Despite significant growth, with a weight of 206.1 thousand tons and earnings reaching $856.9 million recorded in March, Brazil's beef exports (both in natura and processed) continue to trend downward since the beginning of 2023.
The average value of cuts sold abroad declined from $4,356 per ton in March 2023 to $4,158, in contrast to the volume for the same period, which grew by 27%. In 2024, a notable 35% increase represents $2.3 billion. In terms of profit, this means an 11% decrease compared to a year earlier.
China and the US remain the leaders among the country's beef buyers. In the first quarter, sales to both markets totaled nearly half of all Brazilian beef exports (amounting to US$ 1.53 billion in exports to both), according to data compiled by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) and the Brazilian Association of Slaughterhouses (Abrafrigo).
